Vaccines
Your puppy has been vaccinated with a DAPPv vaccine at 7 weeks of age. This is a vaccine for distemper, parvovirus, adenovirus, and parainfluenza. This series must be completed by your veterinarian for your puppy to be protected against these deadly diseases!
We also require your puppy to receive their rabies vaccine by 16 weeks.
Not only is it the law, but rabies is fatal 100% of the time.
We recommend the Leptospirosis vaccine at 13 weeks and 16 weeks. This disease has been become very prevalent in all parts of the US, and not only causes serious health problems like liver failure, but can be transferred to humans.
We recommend this vaccine schedule:
10 weeks old
-
DAPPv vaccine
13 weeks old
-
DAPPv vaccine
-
Leptospirosis vaccine
-
Rabies 1 year vaccine
16 weeks old
-
DAPPv vaccine
-
Leptospirosis vaccine
The most important 2 puppy vaccines are the vaccine at 13 weeks & 16 weeks of age.
If your puppy does not receive those two vaccines, they will not have complete protection!
We suggest that these vaccines are renewed as your veterinarian recommends.
Our health guarantee is void without current DAPPv and Rabies vaccine.
Non-core vaccines:
-
Lyme Disease in dogs can cause a multitude of problems, and is prevalent in some areas. Talk to your veterinarian about their recommendations for this vaccine.
-
Bordatella is common at dog parks, boarding centers, daycares, and training facilities (anywhere that dogs congregate.) We highly recommend getting this vaccine if your dog will be in any of these areas.
Vaccine reactions:
It’s common for dogs to experience mild, short lasting effects from a vaccine. Usually these consist of tenderness or swelling at the vaccine site, being extra sleepy, mild fever, or not wanting to eat. These are expected and not cause for alarm.
If you see any of the below symptoms, contact your veterinarian right away as they are signs of an allergic reaction and are an emergency.
-
Fainting/collapse
-
Vomiting or diarrhea
-
Coughing or difficulty breathing
-
Red itchy bumps (hives)
-
Swelling or puffiness around the face or neck.
