We recommend monthly flea & tick prevention.

​​Do not use flea collars! Even “safe” ones are still exposing you and other animals to pesticides. For instance Seresto’s flea collar, touted to be safe, has been linked to almost 1700 pet deaths.

My dog's tolerate Vectra 3D fleas & ticks, specifically because they can have a bath 4 hours after it is applied. This is especially useful on dogs that get itchy from it. Another bonus to Vectra 3D is it is supposed to repel fleas and ticks before they bite. My dogs receive Heartgard for heartworm prevention. ​If your dog is super itchy after applying topical flea products, you can switch to an oral like Trifexis. (There is many, this is just an example.)

Any dog can have a reaction to any flea & tick or heartworm preventative. The best option is to watch your dog after administering a flea & tick preventative, and stick with the one that your dog tolerates the best.

Fleas and ticks become immune to a product over time. If you are seeing live fleas and ticks on your dog, it is time to switch products. (It is common to find dead ones as they get on your dog, the prevention kills them, then they are just on your dog.)
